GETTING OUTSIDE
May 08, 2025One of my core spiritual practices is getting outside and appreciating everything I see. And the results of that practice are so positive that I thought I would share.
I like to get outside and walk, and while I walk I talk. I tell the trees that I think they look great. I tell the flowers that they are so so pretty. And I tell myself the words and ideas that I need to hear.
My walk-and-talks venture into all manner of topic, but I like to keep them positive, uplifting, and centered on what I want from life. As if I am giving myself my own pep talk, and in that one action, I reclaim all my power.
How many of us are waiting for someone else to tell us that we are doing a good job? How many of us are expecting others to recognize our successes and see us as thriving? How many of us are missing out on the ability to be our own best advocate, coach, and lover?
I see spirituality as a dance between me and the divine. And when I lean into practices that celebrate me, uplift me, and make me feel good, the divine seems to meet me and take me on a ride.
That’s how I see my life. I do my best to stay positive and look for what I want and life seems to meet me and say, Have you considered this additional goodness? As if life is always one-upping me, pushing me to expect more.
And getting outside has been a huge help to my personal spiritual journey.
If you head outside, look for anything to appreciate. Talk about it. Note it. Let life know what you find appealing. And when you see something that makes you smile, celebrate it. That’s your spirit telling you that there is something good for you coming.
