ALLOWING THE LIGHT

Aug 19, 2024

When you find a connection with your authentic self, you stop looking for anyone else to make you happy. You stop looking for anyone else to make you feel complete. You stop looking in general as you realize that what you need is right under your nose.

Much of spirituality is about clearing out the blocks, so that your authentic self can shine. It’s about unwinding your fears and mistaken ideas, so that your divine mind can take over. It’s about shedding your limiting beliefs, so that you can rise tall and shine as the eternal soul you are.

Which I know sounds abstract and not very helpful.

So let me use a visual.

You—the true you—is a soul created in love with heart wants that power your life. That light that is me emanates from my heart, where all my true wants live. When I hold a limiting belief, the light that is me can only shine so far. When I remove the limit, my spirit rises and pours itself into the world based on the expansion I created by surrendering my limiting belief. Which makes me feel more like me.

If I hold a fear or mistaken belief, those are like blocks in my energetic system. They keep the light that is me from freely flowing in my life. Once I remove those blocks and embrace the truth of my eternalness, then my spirit seems to swoop in and help me find my way.

My work? Tend to my thinking where all my blocks reside. Watch out where I adopt limitations that keep me from expressing authentically. Keep an eye on the inside so that I notice how I feel and what I think.

When I do those things, life goes easier for me. When I tend to my mind, I find that I am better able to deal with life, even when it seems to go sideways. When I give my attention to the things within my control—me and my thinking—I find greater success.

There is a spirit to each of us who is waiting to escape. She’s the vibrant you who loves life. She’s the one who is laughing, happy, and at peace. She’s the part of you who sees the good everywhere she looks.

We all have a choice. We can let this spirit lead our life, and feel more alive and energetic. Or we can block this free, universal resource and feel stifled and cut off. I prefer the former. I prefer that my light is bright, my mood light, and my energy high vibe. I prefer when I am more myself. Which is why I allow my spirit to lead me.

Here is how that works:

I follow my interests wherever they lead. I notice what excites me and move toward that excitement. I set my tuner on the inside to the true me and let my days unfold.

Today that meant that I left work early to do a little shopping. It also meant that I got inspired to write this post and did some work on my next book. After that, I plan to make dinner, enjoy my evening with my family, and get to bed at a reasonable hour.

Spirit-led isn’t boring. It’s authentic. And the authentic me likes to get things done, likes to have a great day, and likes when her life serves her up new ideas of how to thrive. Which is why I write.

In my writing, I sense a deep connection with my spirit. In my writing, I feel my true self shining through. In my writing, I am better able to see what I think, so I can decide whether to change what I think.

Where can you let your light shine brighter by removing the limits you place on yourself? Where can you allow your energy to flow by dissolving the blocks that tell you who you are supposed to be? Where can you tune in and find the authentic voice you were meant to use?
